didnt had 1 problem patching the game since i left it working from the mornning even if i have cable...people whines and moans cuz they come running to their computer and want to play wow 1 minute after they sit on their chairs. if you leave the computer do its think the wow patch will work fine.
and about that 1% that takes longer than reality well when a program is downloaded before is actualy placed on the computer it will be checked (depending on the antiviruses programs that you have and then processed by the computer then it has to be placed and acomodated on your files so its pretty much alot of work specialy with 300m + files.
edit: oh and btw i use vista so it cant get more screwed up than that heh
my advise to all of people on patch days is to leave the patch on go eat or do something else for 1 hour or so and then comeback and play. its not that hard...really

true the dowloader works fine for some people. For me it works out easier to download the patch. cuz I have a couple diferent comps that it goes onto =)

lol only took 4 minutes to do the patching since i already pre-dled it with the blizzard downloader thing. but anyways I still won't be on WoW for a while since I don't have time for it right now =(, But I'll be back around June 23 when School is out!
